Summer Showcase!
Congrats to all the wonderful performers who danced at the E-Fit Summer Showcase. We were treated to eight different acts. Velvet kicked off the night with a great routine to the song “Mad About You.” Albemarle Whiskey had us all howling with appreciation for her dance to “She Wolf.” Enygma danced elegantly and with belly dance-inspired elements to a “All That I Am.” Next, the audience was treated to some dazzling veil-work in a belly dance routine by the Sekhmet’s Sisters. Katya~Tiger, made up with pale skin and red lips, performed a very cool Asian-inspired routine–including fan dancing–while wearing some seriously kinky boots! Then, Mandi~Lynn wowed the audience with a slow, sultry routine to “Breathe” by Faith Hill. Sinnamon went out dancing in “Out Tonight.” And finally, the show closed with a “bang” as Gemini played a secretary-turned-hit woman in a stunning routine! Everyone stuck around for good food, good friends, and good fun at the after-party. Congratulations once again to all the performers on a sexy, successful showcase! And a big THANK YOU to all the staff and students who worked so hard to make the showcase a success! We couldn’t do it without you!
Open Houses, Teaser Classes, and Workshops!
We have our Open Houses coming up at both our Charlottesville and Harrisonburg locations! Be sure to invite all your friends who haven’t tried pole yet–this is a great chance for them to try it out and get the answers to all their burning questions! And current students get FREE pole time at our Open Houses! We also have workshops and teaser classes coming up, so check them out, too! New for Harrisonburg, we have a series of one-time classes so new students can try out the different styles of exotic dance!
- Sunday, August 29: Harrisonburg Open House (5:30-7 pm) and FREE Pole/Exotic Teaser Class (7-8 pm, registration required)
- Thursday, September 2: Charlottesville Open House (5:30-7 pm), FREE Belly Dance Teaser Class (7-7:30 pm, registration required), and FREE Pole/Exotic Teaser Class (7:30-8:30 pm, registration required)
- Friday, September 3, 6-8 pm: Harrisonburg Booty Poppin’ and Body Undulation Workshop. It’s time to shimmy, shake, pop and undulate ladies! Work those ass-ets in this unique, two hour workshop, learning to isolate different muscle groups through out your torso, building coordination and strength. $35.
- Tuesday, September 7: Harrisonburg One-Time Teaser Classes, $5. Burlesque (6-7 pm), Pole (7-8 pm), and Exotic (8-9 pm)
Studio Labor Day BBQ
The Studio annual Labor Day BBQ is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 4! NOTE that it is NOT at the Studio. The party starts at 4 pm, and food will be served around 6 pm. Please bring a side dish to share. Please RSVP by Thursday, Sept. 2 registering online with the number of people coming and what dish you’re bringing.

Polarity Competition and Events
We are gearing up for another great weekend of events on September 10-12, 2010. Come watch the Polarity Competition at the Paramount Theater in Charlottesville, VA, presented by East Meets West Pole Events and Bad Kitty Pole Wear. Play a little Pole Bingo and learn from some of the nation’s (and imported!) best, with workshops on Sunday at E-Fit Dance @Shergold Studio.
Come in early and show Charlottesville your skills! Friday night we will have the Platinum Stages Pole Crawl Bingo. Pole Stages will be set up on Charlottesville’s amazing downtown mall at different locations. Participants will go to each location, where you can execute tricks for marks on your bingo card. After going to each location, if you have bingo you will have the opportunity to win Platinum Stages prizes. Bingo cards are $5 and all proceeds from this event will go directly to Deb Plowman of the UK, who was injured during a pole practice (see story here). You will also be automatically entered to win a Platinum Stages gift certificate for a free pole! Event starts on the Downtown Mall right in front of the Omni at 7:00pm Friday night.

The Polarity Competition!
This competition has two categories, that should satisfy everyone’s style!
The Pole Drama competitors will perform theatrical routines and will be judged on creativity, artistry, and musicality. Then get ready for the Trixpert category, as 7 ladies and 1 male, battle it out with the latest tricks, combinations, and spins. See competitors here: http://www.emwpoleevents.com/competitors/

Siips Commercial Casting!
We are shooting the TV commercial for Siips Wine and Champagne on the downtown mall on September 14th at 3:30 pm. The shoot will take approximately one hour. George, the proprietor, will provide wine! There is no compensation or recognition for this shoot, and a model release will be required for all participants.
I first heard about the pole dancing class through some friends who were taking it, and my first thought was I want to do that just so I can say “Yea I can pole dance.” Now I can say that, but it has become more to me than just a phrase………………—

We know the economy is rough, so we have FOUR awesome ways for YOU to save money on classes this spring!
- Student and Senior Discounts: Save $8 off an 8-week class or $4 off a 4-week class for those over 70 orthose providing a valid student ID! This will be accepted during the first week of classes only and applies only to your first class.
- Multiple Class Discounts: It pays to be addicted! Save 20% off your second (or third or fourth…) classes within a single session!
- Perfect Attendance Discounts: We’ll even give you money for coming to your classes! Save $10 off Summer session classes for having had perfect attendance at a 10-week Spring class, or $5 off for perfectattendance at a 5-week Spring class!
